Plant facts

Mature sizeA tall single-trunked columnar (Saguaro-like) cactus. In the ground it reaches about 20-50 ft tall with a thick trunk (2 ft+ diameter) and a relatively narrow spread of only a few feet, eventually growing arms. In a pot it stays a modest column, usually 1-3 ft. Note: this is the variegated form, which grows more slowly than the standard green plant because it has less chlorophyll.
Time to matureVery slow to mature: moderate once established but decades to reach full size. In habitat plants stay small (globular to 1-2 ft) for the first 20-30 years and can take 40-50+ years to reach full height. Growth can approach ~1 ft/yr only on large, well-watered plants in a good season.

Minor scars or pitting on the skin are normal for hardgrown cacti. Any discoloration near the base is from previous healthy growth in soil and is not a sign of damage.

Cacti can look slightly dull after a few days in a dark box. Color returns within a week or two of bright light. If your area drops below 40F, we recommend adding a heat pack to your order, as one is not automatically included.
