String of Watermelons (Curio herreanus, long sold as Senecio herreianus) grows plump, teardrop-shaped beads striped exactly like tiny watermelons, strung along trailing purple stems. It is one of the most charming hanging succulents you can grow, and our 6 inch pots are grown full, with long strands already spilling over the rim.
Give it bright light with some gentle direct sun, water only when the soil dries out fully, and let the strands trail from a shelf or hanging pot. The beads plump when happy and wrinkle slightly when thirsty, so the plant tells you when it wants a drink.
Keep away from pets: like its cousin String of Pearls, this plant is toxic if eaten by cats or dogs. Hang it up high, which is where it looks best anyway.
