Transplant tips
Use a gritty, fast-draining cactus mix with 50–70% mineral material. Choose a pot with drainage holes. Repot only when the cushion presses firmly against the pot’s edge, as this species prefers being root-bound.

Cacti can look slightly dull after a few days in a dark box. Color returns within a week or two of bright light. If your area drops below 40F, we recommend adding a heat pack to your order, as one is not automatically included.

Carefully unpack and place in bright light right away. Since this is sold rooted, it can be potted immediately into a well-draining cactus mix. Wait about a week before watering lightly so the roots settle in.

Very drought tolerant. Water thoroughly, then allow soil to dry completely. In hot months, water about every 10–14 days; in winter, cut back to once every 3–4 weeks.

Soil and Pots

Use a gritty, well-draining cactus/succulent soil. Terracotta pots help extra moisture escape. Avoid oversized pots just enough to fit the root ball snugly.

Growth and Repotting
