What to expect in the box
You will receive one rooted, bare-root Haworthia coarctata shipped without soil or a pot. After arrival: unbox promptly and let the plant rest in a shaded, dry spot for 1-2 days. Pot it up in a gritty, fast-draining succulent mix in a container with a drainage hole. Wait about a week before the first watering so the roots can settle, then begin a normal soak and dry routine. Column height and coloring vary naturally, so your plant will have its own character.

Cacti can look slightly dull after a few days in a dark box. Color returns within a week or two of bright light. If your area drops below 40F, we recommend adding a heat pack to your order, as one is not automatically included.

Haworthia coarctata (Haworthiopsis coarctata), the Crowded Haworthia, builds stacked columns of thick, dark-green leaves speckled with raised white tubercles. The tight rosettes slowly spiral upward and offset freely at the base, forming a crowded little colony that blushes red-purple in strong light.

It is one of the most forgiving succulents you can own. It handles everything from a bright windowsill to some direct sun outdoors, needs water only when the soil is fully dry, and stays small enough for desks, shelves, and dish gardens.

  • Light: Bright light with some direct sun. It tolerates light shade better than most succulents, and strong sun brings out red-purple tones.
