What to expect in the box
You will receive the exact three stem Myrtillocactus geometrizans pictured, shipped rooted and bare root without soil or a pot. After arrival: let the plant rest in a shaded, dry spot for 2-3 days, then plant in a sandy, fast-draining mix or a well-drained full-sun spot. Wait about a week before the first watering so the roots can settle, then begin a normal soak and dry routine. The healed scar near the base is dry and needs no treatment. The waxy blue coating can rub off where the plant is handled. This is normal.

Cacti can look slightly dull after a few days in a dark box. Color returns within a week or two of bright light. If your area drops below 40F, we recommend adding a heat pack to your order, as one is not automatically included.

This is the exact plant you will receive. A one of a kind three stem Myrtillocactus geometrizans, the Blue Candle or Blue Myrtle Cactus. The tallest stem stands about 15 inches, the second about 11 inches, and a third, younger stem of roughly 8 inches rises between them. Each is about 3 inches across with five to six sharp, waxy blue-green ribs.

Young Blue Candles wear long, dark, dagger-like spines that fade to short stubs as the plant matures, and these stems still have the full juvenile armor, with bright red new spines at each crown. In time the plant branches into the classic blue candelabra and produces tiny cream flowers followed by sweet garambullo berries.

This is a scarred, field-grown plant and it is priced as one. The oldest stem carries a large healed scar near the base and the stems show sun bronzing and yellowing. All of it is dry, calloused and cosmetic, and the plant is growing strongly, but if you want a flawless show plant this is not it. If you want a three-stem Blue Candle with character at a discount, it is.

  • Light: Full sun to bright partial shade
  • Water: Low. Soak and dry, minimal in winter
  • Hardiness: USDA zones 9 to 11
  • Growth: Fast columnar cactus, branching into a candelabra with age

Please note: This is a rooted, bare-root plant shipped without soil or a pot. You will receive the exact plant pictured, including the scar and sun marks described above.

Cold Weather Warning

If your area drops below 40°F during the colder months, we highly recommend adding a heat pack to your order, as we don’t automatically include one. This helps keep your plants safe in transit. 🌡️❄️
