What to expect in the box
You will receive one rooted, bare-root Aloe brevifolia from a 6 in nursery pot, shipped without soil or a pot. After arrival: unbox promptly and let the plant rest dry in bright shade for 1-2 days. Pot into a sandy, fast-draining mix in a container with a drainage hole. Wait about a week before watering so the roots settle, then move to a normal soak and dry routine. Each plant is unique, so leaf color and offset count will vary from the photos.

Cacti can look slightly dull after a few days in a dark box. Color returns within a week or two of bright light. If your area drops below 40F, we recommend adding a heat pack to your order, as one is not automatically included.

Aloe brevifolia, the Crocodile Aloe or Short-leaved Aloe, forms tight blue-green rosettes lined with pale, soft teeth along every leaf edge. Grown hard and bright, the leaves blush a rosy bronze and the whole rosette tightens into a compact ball.

It offsets steadily into a colony, which makes it one of the best small aloes for a rock garden, a strawberry pot, or the front edge of a dry border. Orange flower spikes appear in spring on established plants.

  • Light: Full sun for the best color and tightest form. Bright direct light indoors.
  • Water: Soak and dry. Water deeply, then wait until the soil is completely dry.
  • Hardiness: USDA zones 9, 10, 11
  • Growth: Slow growing

Please note: This is a rooted, bare-root plant shipped without soil or a pot. Exact size and shape will vary from the photos.

Cold Weather Warning

If your area drops below 40°F during the colder months, we highly recommend adding a heat pack to your order, as we don’t automatically include one. This helps keep your plants safe in transit. 🌡️❄️
