Description

The Agave parryi commonly known as the Artichoke Agave, is a slow-growing succulent known for thick, fleshy, blue-gray leaves. This plant is drought-tolerant and frost-hardy and can handle temperatures down to 5°F, making it one of the hardiest agaves. This plant will reach up to 2 feet tall and 4 feet wide. Perfect for rock gardens, xeriscaping, and containers. 

Please Note: All agave plants in our collection are shipped bare-root, without soil or pots. While some plants may have minor scars, we guarantee they will arrive in excellent condition and optimal health. Additionally, any discoloration at the base of the plant, especially in rooted varieties, is a normal result of prior planting in soil.

Cactus Care & FAQs

✔ After Arrival: Let your Artichoke Agave rest in a shaded, dry area for a few days before planting. Use a well-draining cactus mix, such as sandy soil with added perlite or pumice. Avoid watering for the first week to help it adjust.

✔ Long-Term Care: Place in full sun to partial shade for best growth and form. Water deeply but only when the soil is completely dry, typically every 2 weeks in warm months and even less in winter. Protect from hard frost (below 5°F) by bringing it indoors or covering it in extreme cold.

✔ Hardiness Zone: 5-10

Asparagus Agave - 5 gal

Excellent specimen with full bare root system intact and well packed. The only issue I have is size. It’s a solid 3 gal size, but sold as a 5 gal size. Maybe they just repotted them up?
