What to expect in the box

Your cutting is hand-picked from a healthy mother plant, wrapped in protective kraft paper, and shipped on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. It arrives without a pot or soil.

The base will look dry or calloused. That is exactly what you want: a cutting needs a sealed, dry base before it can root. Minor scars or pitting on the skin are normal for hardgrown cacti and are not damage.

Cacti can look slightly dull after a few days in a dark box. Color returns within a week or two of bright light. If your area drops below 40F, we recommend adding a heat pack to your order, as one is not automatically included.

How to root your cutting

1. Let it callous. Keep the cutting upright in a dry, shaded spot for 2 to 3 weeks so the base fully hardens. Do not water it during this time.

2. Plant it. Set the calloused end 1 to 2 inches deep in dry, well-draining cactus soil. A terracotta pot with a drainage hole works best.

3. Wait, then water lightly. Hold off on water for about a week after planting, then water sparingly until roots take hold. Start it in bright, indirect light and move to full sun over a few weeks.

San Pedro Cactus (Echinopsis pachanoi)

A legendary columnar cactus treasured for its rapid growth, striking green ribs, and towering presence. Available as a fresh, unrooted cutting ranging from 6 inches to 35 inches tall, San Pedro is a fast-growing centerpiece for landscapes and collections alike.

Growth Habit: Tall, upright columns Bloom Season: Summer (night-blooming, white flowers) Dormancy: Winter Sun Exposure: Full sun to partial shade Soil Needs: Fast-draining cactus mix Hardiness Zones: 8b–10b Native To: Andes Mountains, South America

San Pedro is one of the fastest-growing columnar cacti, often reaching 12–18 inches of new growth per year. Outdoors, mature plants can soar up to 20 feet tall. Its tall ribbed stems and spectacular, fragrant white flowers make it a striking choice for both desert landscapes and container growing.

What you’ll receive:

A San Pedro cactus unrooted cutting. Sizes range from 6 inches up to 35 inches. All cuttings are shipped carefully packed to arrive healthy and ready for success.

After Arrival

Carefully unpack your cactus right away. Let it rest in a dry, shaded spot before planting so the cut end can callous.

Transplant Tips

Use a gritty, fast-draining soil mix with pumice, perlite, or coarse sand. Always plant in pots with drainage holes or directly into a well-draining landscape bed. Water deeply but only when the soil is completely dry.

Please note: This listing is for an unrooted cutting, a fresh segment taken from a mature plant. Cuttings need a few weeks to callous before planting, then they root readily in dry cactus soil. Some cuttings may have minor scars, which are totally normal and not a sign of damage. Every cutting is hand-picked and guaranteed to arrive healthy.

Cold Weather Warning

If your area drops below 40°F during the colder months, we highly recommend adding a heat pack to your order, as we don’t automatically include one. This helps keep your plants safe in transit. 🌡️❄️
