Description

The Echinopsis terscheckii commonly known as the Argentine Saguaro is native to Argentina and drought tolerant. The Argentine Saguaro thrives in hot, arid climates, and produces large white flowers. This cactus has thick ribbed green stems and golden spines, over time can develop multiple arms. Makes for a stunning focal point to any garden or landscape. 

Please note: We offer both cuttings (unrooted pieces that will root over time) and bare-root plants (already rooted, but shipped without soil or pot). Some plants may have minor scars, which are totally normal. Any discoloration at the base especially on rooted plants is from previous healthy growth in soil and is not a sign of damage. Every plant is hand-picked and guaranteed to arrive healthy.

After Arrival
Carefully unpack your cactus as soon as it arrives. This is a rooted plant, so it already has an established root system and can be potted right away in a well-draining cactus mix. Once planted, wait about a week before giving it a light watering to allow it to settle into its new environment.

Sunlight Introduction
If your cactus was boxed for shipping, let it adjust in bright, indirect light for a few days before moving it into full sun to prevent any shock or sunburn.

Light
The Argentine Saguaro thrives in full sun. Outdoors is best, but if kept indoors, it needs a bright window with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily.

Watering
Stick to the soak-and-dry method. Water thoroughly, then wait until the soil is completely dry before watering again. In winter, reduce watering to once a month or less.

Soil & Pots
Use a gritty cactus mix with excellent drainage. Terracotta pots are ideal, and a drainage hole is a must.

Growth & Repotting
This is one of the fastest-growing large columnar cacti. Repot every 2–3 years, or when it becomes root-bound. After repotting, wait a week before watering.

How fast does it grow?
Faster than most columnar cacti, under the right conditions, it can grow several feet over a few years.

Can I grow it indoors?
Yes, but it must receive strong direct light daily. Without enough sun, it may stretch or lean.

Will it bloom?
Mature plants can produce large, night-blooming white flowers, though it usually takes several years.

Does it need fertilizer?
Not required, but you can feed it during the growing season with cactus fertilizer at half strength.
